Nearly all stock trading, scanning and charting programs use eSignal data streams to populate the charts for their software, eSignal is the industry standard when it comes to data streams. They also are leading the way in charting and analyzing software for all trader types, even mobile traders, which no other company can compare to at this time. eSignal is the only company we reviewed that offers mobile apps that can provide scanning abilities, charts, watch lists and more to the iPhone, Blackberry and all Java-based mobile phones including Android and Windows Mobile phones. We offer major accolades to eSignal for leading the way and it earns the TopTenREVIEWS Gold Award.
The advantage of using eSignal day trading software is that an additional monthly fee is not required to use eSignal like most day trading software requires. A second advantage to using eSignal is that they offer a variety of solutions, including software for mobile traders, pro traders, casual traders and more. eSignal places above MultiCharts since it offers more broker compatibility and cell phone apps.
We also liked the pricing structure offered by eSignal. For example, eSignal can be obtained for as low as $95 per month. Keep in mind that this is for the software and for the data stream; you do not have to pay for a data feed separately. In addition, it can support 100’s of world indices, an unlimited number of symbols, a choice of U.S. or international exchanges and you can view up to 200 symbols at a time.
To get an idea as to what their charting software can do, we looked at eSignal. They also offer eSignal OnDemand, eSignal Pro, an Advanced GET Edition, FutureSource Workstation, LiveCharts, Market-Q, QuoTrek and Scanners. All versions are available for free with a 30-day trial.
eSignal provides excellent day trading stock charting, analyzing and scanning tools. eSignal does everything we were looking for and much more. eSignal charting tools are fully customizable and support numerous indicators including accumulation / distribution, MACD (includes MACD Histogram), momentum, stochastics (fast and slow), volume, moving average and many more.
eSignal also supports a variety of chart types and drawing tools. The chart types include bar, candlestick, Kagi, line, point and figure, point break and Renko. Their powerful drawing tools include Andrews' Pitchfork, Fibonacci retracement and extension, linear regression, trend lines and a price ruler.
Their “advanced charting” tool includes things like customizable tick intervals on bar and candle charts, eSignal Formula Script (EFS), multiple symbol overlay with axis management, a stretch chart and a zero bar. In addition, it can support multi-threading for creating super fast results on multi-core PCs.
eSignal offers more than just the basic eSignal, they also offer:
eSignal really does do everything and they offer quite a bit of training to help traders learn how to most effectually use their software.
eSignal uses their own market data information to support their software and we do not blame them; everyone else uses them too.
eSignal supports more trading services than any other company including Interactive Brokers, MB Trading, TD AMERITRADE, optionsXpress and GAIN Capital / FOREX.com. For a complete list of the brokers they support, see the eSignal product specification page.
With full broker integration eSignal users can buy/sell, conduct order executions, monitor their account and more through the eSignal control panel.
eSignal is the only day trading software company that provides stellar mobile phone tools for the iPhone, Blackberry and all Java-based phones including phones running Windows Mobile and Android. Depending on the type of phone used, eSignal QuoTrek can provide analytics, scrolling, charts, chart time intervals, delayed data (historical data), streaming data, desktop syncing, news, options information, watch lists, OSI, Global data, quotes, symbol lookup, hot lists and market information. We did not find any other trading software company that can offer much beyond simple SMS alerts to cell phones.
This service provides quite a bit of additional education including seminars, trading education, free newsletters, a forum and a product called eSignal Learning. Their trading education topics include Market Mastery, The Strategic Trader, a free newsletter and free trading resources, which include articles and advice from active traders.
Their seminars are offered in the U.S., Canada and the U.K, including major cities like San Jose, Austin, Toronto, Atlanta, London and Minneapolis. Their “Learn.Trade.Succeed!” seminars are provided for free, the Introduction to Advanced GET is $295 USD.
eSignal can be contacted through email, telephone or live chat. We found their live chat support to be well-informed, quick and responsive. Each software package comes with training information as well as embedded support. They also provide new user orientations, an active forum, a searchable knowledgebase, a symbols guide, trouble shooting support, formula studies and more.
eSignal is clearly the most powerful, flexible and comprehensive trading product available. They provide the best data streams, extraordinary mobile tools and a high level of compatibility with many online stock traders and brokers. They also provide tons of support, live seminars and a great help center and library.
We had a really difficult time finding a product that can compete with eSignal, not to mention, most day trading software uses eSignal to fuel their charting software. We also liked that they offer a variety of solutions, including web-based, mobile and pro editions. They even provide free 30-day trials on their products so traders can test them all to find the best solution for their day trading needs.
Pros
eSignal is the market leader in data feeds and provides charting, scanning and analyzing tools for all types of traders.
Cons
The only complaint we have with eSignal is that it only works with their data feed.
eSignal sets the industry standard for data streams and offers charting, scanning and analyzing software for all types of traders. Anyone can find a trading solution with eSignal.
